We use this privacy policy to clearly disclose to you our privacy practices in a manner that is easy to understand. The information you provide is safeguarded. This Privacy Policy discloses what information we gather and how we use it. It applies to information we collect on this Website, including through electronic messages between you and the Website (for example, when you submit a message using our "Contact Us" form or when you complete the "Request an Appointment" form). It does not apply to products or services provided, or information collected by us offline or through other means, such as over the phone, or to information collected by third parties, including through any application or content that may link to or be accessible from this Website. By accessing or using this Website, you agree to this Privacy Policy. Please review it carefully.

Information Northland gathers and tracks

We collect information in several ways. Some of the information we collect is personal to you. Other information is anonymous. We gather two types of information about users:

  • Information that users provide through optional, voluntary submissions to our Website or by emailing us. This information may include personal information, such as your name, phone number, email address, state and zip code. When you are on our site and provide personal information, you are sharing that information with Northland and the vendors who provide services to us.
  • Information that we collect automatically as you visit and navigate the Website or open our emails. This information may include usage details, IP addresses, real-time geographic location of your computer or device, device identifiers and information collected through tracking technologies such as cookies and web beacons. Information Northland gathers through aggregated tracking is used to determine which areas of our sites users like and don't like based on traffic to those areas. We do not track what individual users read, but rather how well each page performs overall. We collect this information in order to determine how to create the best experience for our customers. We may track search terms entered in our Search function as one of many measures of what interests our users, but this tracking is never associated with an individual user.

Policy amendment

  • Northland approaches Internet communications with a strong commitment to individual privacy rights and concerns. As the Internet evolves, our policy will continue to change and develop. We therefore reserve the right to amend this Privacy Policy at any time with or without prior notice. Please check this page periodically for changes. Your continued use of the sites following any changes to this Privacy Policy will constitute your acceptance of such changes.

Use of personal information

  • Northland strictly protects the security of your personal information and honors your choices for its intended use. We disclose your information to no third parties unless it is specifically stated otherwise. We may use third party contractors to help us operate our business and the sites or administer activities on our behalf, and may share your personal information with these contractors for those limited purposes.
  • We use your information to understand your needs and provide you with better service, and in particular for the following reasons:
    • We may use the information to help you schedule appointments with our affiliated hearing centers.
    • We may use the information to provide you with discount coupons and product information.
    • We may use this information to respond to requests from users, customize our features for individual visitors who are Northland customers and to notify customers about updates to our site and products or services.
    • We may disclose, access or monitor your personal information when we believe in good faith that the law requires it.
    • We may use information for administrative and other purposes that we deem necessary to maintain, service and improve our products and services and our information security
    • We may disclose de-identified aggregated data and user statistics to prospective partners and other third parties. De-identified data is data that does not identify an individual person.
    • As we continue to develop our business, we may buy or sell businesses or assets. In such transactions, confidential customer information generally is one of the transferred business assets. In the event of a transaction involving the sale of Northland’s business, customer and site visitor information may be one of the transferred assets and may be disclosed in connection with negotiations relating to a proposed transaction. In such case, the transferred information may become subject to a different privacy policy.
    • We may share or use your information for any other legally permitted business purpose in our sole discretion.

Some of the features on this Website allow you to communicate with us using an online form. If your communication requests a response from us, we may send you a response via e-mail. The e-mail response or confirmation may include your personal information, including your name, address, etc. We cannot guarantee that our e-mails to you will be secure from unauthorized interception.

You may also contact us if you believe that any inaccurate or inappropriate information has been obtained or provided to others through your use of this Website.

Cookies and other automatic data collection technologies

As you navigate through and interact with our Website, we may use automatic data collection technologies to collect certain information about your equipment, browsing actions and patterns, including:

  • Details of your visits to our Website, including traffic data, location data, logs and other communication data and the resources that you access and use on the Website.
  • Information about your computer and internet connection, including your IP address, operating system and browser type.

You do not need to have cookies turned on to use this site; however, it will help you to participate more actively in some features.

We also employ a software technology called a clear GIF (Graphics Interchange Format), also known as a pixel tag or Web beacon. A clear GIF is a line of code that we place on our Websites or in e-mails which allows us to analyze our advertising and the general usage patterns of visitors to our Websites. These help us better manage content on our site by informing us what content or promotions are effective. Unless you consent, we do not collect personally identifiable information from you through the use of web beacons. You may not disable Web beacons.

Our Website permits you to use a third party social networking platform such as Facebook, Twitter, and Google+. This includes use of social media plugins such as Facebook "Like", Tweet and Google "+1" buttons, etc. When you use social networking platforms and plugins, you share your information with them and their privacy policy applies to disclosure of such information. In addition, these social networking platforms may collect information about you, including your use of the Website. Such services may allow your activity to be monitored across multiple websites for purposes of delivering more targeted advertising. Please note that their own privacy polices apply and we encourage you to read them. We may add new social networking plugins and buttons to our Websites from time to time.
